Trump Calls Mexican President’s Demands “Lack of Respect”

( – During his “One Nation” interview with host Brian Kilmeade on March 31st, former President Donald Trump discussed how foreign leaders have a “lack of respect” for President Joe Biden.

Trump’s comments came after Kilmeade asked him about the “60 Minutes” interview between correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. During the interview, López Obrador said that Mexico is unwilling to close the border unless the United States lifts sanctions on Venezuela and Cuba, sends $20 billion in aid a year to the Caribbean and Latin American countries, and grants legal status to illegal immigrants from Mexico living in the U.S. He added that if the United States does not meet his demands, then the “flow of migrants will continue.”

The demands, first made by López Obrador in January, come in addition to Biden ending Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy when he took office, which López Obrador opposed.

When Kilmeade asked Trump if the Mexican president should be dictating American policy, Trump responded, “They would never say that to me,” adding that he said because he lacks respect for Biden. Trump said López Obrador also “wants $10 billion” just to talk about the border, and Trump “wouldn’t give them 10 cents.”

Trump ended the interview by stating that November 5th will be the “most important day in the history of our country.” He added that if the direction the country is going in does not change, “We’re not going to have a country anymore.”

Many users on social media responded to Trump’s comments, agreeing, saying, “The boss has spoken.” One user wrote that is how a “real U.S. president should react!” Another user asked why the Mexican president thought he could make demands about closing the border “in the first place.”

The comments come after more than 242,587 immigrants attempted to cross the southern border in February. Since Biden took office in January 2021, a record 10 million immigrants have entered the United States illegally.
