(USNewsMag.com) – Following special counsel Robert Hur’s report that said President Joe Biden has “a poor memory,” Maryland Rep. Andy Harris, a member of the Republican’s Doctors Caucus and an anesthesiologist, is speaking out about Biden’s mental deficiencies.
During his February 18th interview on Newsmax, Rep. Harris stated that Biden’s cognitive abilities would be noticed by voters during his reelection campaign. He said that during the campaign, it will be clear he is unable to “make the decisions you need a president to make.”
Rep. Harris made comparisons between Biden’s 2024 campaign for reelection and his 2020 campaign where he was kept “in the basement for the campaign.” He added that if he had been speaking publicly while campaigning four years ago, people would have seen his “dementia.” He said people “definitely see it now” and “definitely know it now.”
Biden is set to deliver the State of the Union address on March 7th, and Harris stated that as long as he uses a teleprompter he thinks Biden can make it through without a major mistake. However, he noted that Biden’s mental deficiencies are often on display when he goes off script from the teleprompter.
Rep. Harris noted that he feels Democrats will use Hur’s February 5th report to replace Biden on the national ticket in the “next couple of months,” before the Democratic National Convention. Former 2024 Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, talk show host Alex Jones, and Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick have also stated they think Democrats could replace Biden before the Democratic National Convention, even mentioning names such as California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Polling continues to show that voters are concerned about Biden’s age and health as he is the oldest sitting president in the history of the United States. If re-elected in November, Biden would be 86 at the end of his second term.
