Giuliani Claims Judge Kaplan Is a Disgrace

(USNewsMag.com) – Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani slammed the judge overseeing a civil trial against former President Donald Trump, whom he called a “disgrace” to America’s “greatest trial court.”

Giuliani appeared on Newsmax on Friday, Jan. 19, and told host Rob Schmitt that New York District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan is “foaming out of his mouth” with “prejudice” in the case against Trump. The former New York City mayor said it was “a horrible thing to watch” because he believes Kaplan was once “a good judge.” Giuliani believes Kaplan, along with many others, has “become afflicted” and is no longer capable of thinking logically.

According to Giuliani, Kaplan has done “everything” possible to make Trump’s trial unfair, including trying to prevent the former president from attending the funeral of his mother-in-law, which Giuliani said was “cruel.”

The judge threatened to expel Trump for ignoring multiple warnings to stop talking, while columnist E. Jean Carroll gave her testimony. The writer, who brought the case against Trump, claims Trump assaulted her in a department store in 1996 and then later defamed her in 2022. The judge also rebuked one of Trump’s defense attorneys for “repetitive” questioning of Carroll.

After his altercation with Kaplan, Trump called him a “nasty judge” who hates the former president. Previously, Trump described Kaplan in social media posts as “seething and hostile,” as well as “abusive, rude,” and “not impartial” as a judge. He was also overheard by Carroll’s lawyers in court calling the trial a “witch hunt” and a “con job” after the judge had already silenced him with a warning.

Giuliani called Kaplan a “disgrace” to the New York court, which he said “is the greatest trial court in America.” Now, he believes the whole New York judiciary has been appointed by corrupt Democratic leaders whom he called “Marxists” who favor criminals over victims.

Giuliani has been facing legal troubles of his own after being ordered to pay $148 million in damages to former election workers in Georgia for defamation, which he’s since appealed. The former New York City mayor also recently declared bankruptcy.
