FDA Issues Update on Coffee Recall

(USNewsMag.com) – On June 17, Waco Bottling LLC, based in Texas, recalled its coffee concentrate.

The company voluntarily recalled its TryBrewed Coffee Concentrate because the cases, containing six glass bottles, may not have an ingredient statement or nutrition label on them.

The move comes after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on June 13 that the TryBrewed Coffee Concentrate recall’s risk classification was a Class III, meaning that using or being exposed to the product was unlikely “to cause adverse health consequences.” The FDA recalls products with no ingredient statement or nutrition label because the product could present a risk to those purchasing the product who may have allergies or dietary restrictions.

The recall affected 321 cases of TryBrewed Coffee Concentrate distributed by Amazon across the United States.

TryBrewed Coffee Concentrate is the latest beverage to be recalled by the FDA for undeclared ingredients. Twenty-eight other drinks have already been recalled this year, with 24 of the 28 beverages recalled for containing harmful chemicals or dangerous bacteria.

Among the drinks recalled are four drinks from the Charles Boggini Company, including Yellow Lemonade X, Pink Lemonade, Yellow Lemonade and Cola Flavoring Base, recalled for containing harmful chemicals such as FD&C Red No. 40 dye, linked to colorectal cancer and Yellow No. 5 that can cause allergic reactions. Infant formulas, including Enfamil Nutramigen Hypoallergenic Infant Formula Powder, Crecelac Powdered Goat Milk Infant Formula, and the Goat Milk Toddler Formula Two, were also recalled for containing toxic chemicals and bacteria that can be harmful to babies. Other recalled drinks include Fiji Water, House of Coffee bean bags, Martinelli’s Apple Juice, Mug Root Beer, Powerade Mountain Berry Blast, Powerade Zero Mixed Berry and Fruit Punch, Rise Brewing Organic’s Original and Vanilla Oat Milk, Schweppes Zero Sugar Ginger Ale, Tapee Tea, Trader Joe’s 100% Organic Carrot Juice, Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water, Xlim Express Coffee, and Yogi Echinacea Immune Support Tea.
