(USNewsMag.com) – New polls released May 13th show former President Donald Trump winning over President Joe Biden in five out of six swing states.
The polls, conducted by Siena College, The New York Times, and The Philadelphia Inquirer, surveyed 4,097 registered voters between April 28th to May 9th. The polls show Trump making “gains among young, black, and Hispanic voters,” according to the Times’ chief political analyst, Nate Cohn.
Despite winning 60 percent of the Hispanic voters and voters ages 18 to 29 in 2020, Biden and Trump are now tied for their support. Trump also has the support of over 20 percent of black voters, the highest level of black support for a Republican presidential candidate since 1964 when the Civil Rights Act was enacted.
Among registered voters, Trump leads in a head-to-head matchup in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, while Biden leads in Wisconsin. Among likely voters, Trump leads in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, while Biden wins Michigan among likely voters.
The results were similar in a matchup including independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., with Kennedy polling at an average of 10 percent across the six swing states.
Among voters surveyed, there is widespread dissatisfaction with the state of the country, with nearly 70 percent saying the political and economic systems of the United States need to be changed. A quarter of voters say the top issues are the cost of living and the economy, which over half of voters believe to be “poor.”
The latest poll results are similar to the same polls’ November results, the last time the three polls were conducted in the six swing states.
In the 2020 election, Biden won all six swing states. However, if he wins everywhere he won in the 2020 election, and only the swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Biden would be able to win re-election.
