(USNewsMag.com) – Following the court’s decision to fine former President Donald Trump hundreds of millions in penalties in a New York City civil fraud case, some truck drivers are now indicating they will boycott making deliveries to the Big Apple in retaliation for the persecution of the former commander-in-chief.
A man who goes by Chicago Ray on social media, who is a trucker and a conservative influencer, posted the video from his truck on Friday, February 16th, shortly after Trump was ordered to pay penalties amounting to $355 million for multiple counts of fraud related to the Trump business empire. Two of Trump’s sons, Eric and Donald Jr., were also both hit with $4 million in penalties each, bringing the total among all of the defendants to $364 million. The news outraged his supporters, including truck drivers who deliver to the Big Apple.
Ray said in the video (which has since been removed) that he was on the radio conversing with multiple truckers and confirmed that at least ten of them were planning to begin refusing to deliver cargo to New York City starting the following Monday, February 19th, on President’s Day. He said he wasn’t sure how widespread the sentiment was or how many would join in the boycott protest, but that those who have pledged to participate are serious.
“You f*** around and find out,” Ray said. He also added that the trucker’s employers won’t care if they deny the loads because they would “just go somewhere else,” and noted how difficult it already is to get into New York City with large delivery trucks. He claimed that at least 95% of truckers in America are Trump supporters and vowed to provide more updates on the protest.
In a follow-up video on Tuesday, February 20th, Ray gave some updates and confirmed the protest had already begun. He said multiple loads have been refused, and that one trucker who refused a load on Monday was paid “30% more” to get it delivered to New York. Ray concluded the post by stating the “bottom line” is that New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia are about to start paying more for groceries.
