White House Preparing Against Possible Russian Nuclear Escalation

(USNewsMag.com) – Russia invaded Ukraine more than a month ago. During that time, President Vladimir Putin authorized his military to carry out a brutal attack on the neighboring country. Shortly after the war began, he put Russia’s nuclear forces on high alert. Now the White House is allegedly making similar moves.

According to a report in the New York Times, President Joe Biden’s administration has assembled a team of national security officials to come up with ways the US and its allies can respond to Putin if he uses Russia’s nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons. The group, allegedly known as the Tiger, meets three times a week to discuss contingency plans. The sessions are reportedly classified, but the team is also looking into the possibility of Russia attacking convoys in NATO territory transporting aid and weapons to Ukraine.

The team also allegedly believes there’s a possibility Russia could extend its war into Georgia, Moldova or other territories. The US and its allies have warned there’s a possibility the former Soviet country could also launch a chemical attack in Ukraine.

On March 23, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters that if Russia deploys weapons of mass destruction against Ukraine, it could have “dire consequences” for the people in nearby NATO nations. After all, a radioactive cloud knows no borders.
