Washington Post Mysteriously Endorses Republican Candidate
(USNewsMag.com) – The midterms are right around the corner, and voters in some states have already hit the polls for early voting. Last-minute endorsements are rolling in for candidates on both sides of the aisle. One that might be a surprise to some is from The Washington Post Editorial Board.
On October 16, the WaPo Editorial Board endorsed Republican Barry Glassman in the race for Maryland’s next comptroller, also known as the state tax collector. The board described him as a “well-liked conservative whose meat-and-potatoes style of competent government” has helped guide him through public service for the last 20 years.
The newspaper pointed out the Free State’s legislature is run by Democrats, saying, “One-party rule in any state is a recipe for immoderation and poor governance.”
The Editorial Board endorses Barry Glassman for Maryland comptroller, calling him "a traditional Republican who rejects the GOP’s MAGA wing and would take a restrained approach to the office, managing it as intended by the state’s laws and constitution." https://t.co/z1R32XKfKL

The board also stated it was choosing Glassman because he’s a “traditional Republican” who has not supported former President Donald Trump’s claims about the 2020 election. The endorsement letter states the conservative has rejected “the GOP’s MAGA wing.”
As the comptroller, Glassman would be in charge of more than 1,000 state employees. He would also oversee Maryland’s pension fund. Glassman has promised to do his job without bringing politics into it, unlike his Democratic candidate, according to the Editorial Board.
