US House Delays Key Vote Amid Squabbles

(USNewsMag.com) – There’s a fight brewing in the Democratic Party over the infrastructure bills lawmakers want to pass. It’s starting to look like President Joe Biden’s agenda could be collateral damage.

On Thursday, October 28, Biden traveled to the Hill to speak to lawmakers. According to reports, he all but begged the Left to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill Progressives are holding hostage. The far-left has tied the bipartisan bill to the multi-trillion reconciliation package, saying they won’t vote for one without the other.

Pelosi ignored her caucus and scheduled a vote for the bipartisan bill anyway. She allegedly told the Left to not embarrass Biden, who was leaving for the G20 Summit that day. Progressives reportedly ignored their leader and stalled the vote.

One progressive aide told Fox News that Pelosi couldn’t just “will” the infrastructure bill through the House because “the votes are not there.” Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Rep. Pramila Jayapal reportedly warned White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain to stop Biden from going to the Hill to pressure her caucus if the reconciliation bill wasn’t complete. She wanted to save him from a defeat as he headed to the G20, but the POTUS didn’t listen.

The failed vote happened for the second time in a month. It’s unclear what will happen next but Democrats seem intent on trying again — when that will happen is unclear.
