Trump Returns to Court and Campaigns Against Letitia James

(USNewsMag.com) – Before entering court in New York for a second day, former President Donald Trump spoke to the media and repeated his attacks on the New York Attorney General, who brought the case against Trump, his family, and his business in his home state.

Trump and two of his sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr., were indicted in a $250 million civil lawsuit by New York Attorney General Letitia James on charges of defrauding banks and insurers, arguing that Trump and his family overvalued assets while building their real estate empire.

Trump told the press before heading into the courtroom that the judge was “given false, misleading, and corrupt information” by Attorney General Letitia James, whom he called “corrupt and incompetent.”

Some of the evidence was also addressed by Trump directly to the press, such as James’s claim that Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, is worth $18 million. Trump said it is “in fact… much closer to $1.5 billion.” He said officials from Palm Beach wrote to him and said James was wrong about her valuation of the property. Meanwhile, the judge overseeing the case claims he didn’t give that valuation to James but received it from a Palm Beach County official.

Trump accused James of knowing “the statements are much lower” than the true net worth and that Mar-a-Lago was just one example of others his legal team will present. The former president is confident the case will be dismissed.

He added that James herself “should probably be dismissed also” for being “terrible and grossly incompetent.” Trump added that she should at least start looking for actual criminals in New York rather than using “fraudulent numbers” to sue him and prevent him from doing business in his home state.

Trump and his sons are currently on trial in New York.
