Swing State CAMPAIGN Announced – Look Who’s Running!

(USNewsMag.com) – On July 10, Army veteran Sam Brown announced he was running in the Republican primary for the Nevada Senate seat, which is currently held by Jacky Rosen, a Democrat.

Brown, who served in Afghanistan, stated he was “ready to lead and fight for you again” when announcing his candidacy. He stated he brings the ability to focus on the mission and people, as well as the leadership needed.

After Brown graduated from West Point, he joined the Army in 2006. While serving in Afghanistan in September 2008, an improvised explosive device blast in Kandahar left Brown severely injured with third-degree burns over 30 percent of his body. He also lost his left index finger. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart.rown went on to start Palisade Strategies, which helps veterans who are injured manage their medical care.

In 2022, Brown ran in the Senate primary, losing to former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, who went on to lose in the general election to the incumbent, Democrat Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, in the closest race of the midterms.

Brown will face Jim Marchant, real estate broker Stephanie Phillips, and attorney Ronda Kennedy in the 2024 Nevada Republican primary.archant is a former state assemblyman who ran unsuccessfully in 2020 for Congress as well as in 2022 for secretary of state. It is also expected that Jeffrey Ross Gunter, who served under former President Donald Trump as the U.S. ambassador to Iceland, will also enter the race. The National Republican Senatorial Committee had been recruiting Brown to enter the Nevada Senate race.

Rosen’s seat is one of eight seats Democrats will be trying to defend in 2024 in an effort to keep their 51-49 majority. Democrats will also be trying to keep seats they currently hold in West Virginia, Arizona, and Montana.
