(USNewsMag.com) – Police K9s are incredible animals. The dogs help law enforcement with a variety of tasks including finding drugs, guns, and other dangerous contraband due to their strong sense of smell. The animals can also help subdue criminals. In Las Vegas, the police department has a very special K9 that recently made a huge crime bust.
On March 25, detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stopped a semi-truck for driving erratically near I-15. According to the department, the driver told officers a story that didn’t make any sense. So the police called in K9 Nuggetz to see if there was anything they were missing.
Nuggetz put his nose and his 225 million scent receptors to work and sniffed out some drugs. Not a small stash, though. The police dog uncovered $10.5 million worth of cocaine hidden among tomatoes. The department posted the story of the drug bust on Twitter, celebrating their bestest boy.
LVMPD K9 Nuggetz indicated an alert for drugs which led to a search.
Among the load of tomatoes, we found 230 pounds of cocaine with an estimated value of $10.5 million dollars.
Nanak Singh & Chandra Prakash were booked for trafficking a controlled substance.

In total, there was more than 230 pounds of cocaine on the truck. Police arrested Chandra Prakash and Nanak Singh; both men were booked on trafficking charges. There’s no word on what kind of reward Nuggetz earned for his huge find. Hopefully, he got something really delicious.
