SHOCKING Data Suggests Americans May Be Moving To Canada
(USNewsMag.com) – On June 24, the Supreme Court reversed its nearly-50-year-old Roe v. Wade precedent that granted federal protection for abortion based on the right to privacy. The ruling, although expected, sent shockwaves through the country. Apparently, it also caused some to look for alternative living arrangements.
Following the Supreme Court decision, Google Trends data showed the searches for “how to move to Canada from [US]” skyrocketed 850% an hour after the ruling. Additionally, “How to become a Canadian citizen” rose 550%.

The procedure is still legal with few restrictions in the country to the north. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to the SCOTUS decision as “horrific,” according to a Twitter post. He said nobody has the right to “tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body.” The PM said his “heart goes out to the millions of American[s]” who lost their rights to have an abortion.
The news coming out of the United States is horrific. My heart goes out to the millions of American women who are now set to lose their legal right to an abortion. I can’t imagine the fear and anger you are feeling right now.

Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada Executive Director Joyce Arthur told CBC she’s worried the loss of federal abortion rights in the US will overwhelm their system as women cross the border to terminate their pregnancies. Options Pregnancy Center Executive Director Andra Broussard expressed similar concerns to journalists.
