Ralph Norman Vows to Run Against Lindsay Graham

(USNewsMag.com) – South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham may face some competition for his Senate seat as Republican Rep. Ralph Norman suggests a possible run against him for the position.

The House Freedom Caucus member told Fox News Digital that he’s “tired of Lindsey” after host Liz Elkind asked if he was considering a run against Graham. Norman said he’s “looking at it” and that the race isn’t until 2026, which is “a long time” in politics. Norman said although he thinks Graham has “done a good job on good judges,” he’s also tired of the South Carolina senator and accused Graham of locking the country in on a “spending spree.”

According to Fox News, shortly before speaking with Norman, one of their reporters overheard him speaking with an unknown person on the phone and saying that he was “going to run against” Graham.

Norman, who used to serve as a state representative for South Carolina, now represents the state’s 5th Congressional District, a position he’s held since 2017. He won his last re-election campaign by a ten-point margin in 2020.

Graham, who’s openly supported former President Donald Trump, has fallen out of favor with many Republican voters. In July, he was booed by a crowd of GOP voters at a Trump rally in South Carolina, to which he responded, “Thank you very, very much.”

The disdain from Trump’s base may have to do with Graham’s decision to certify the 2020 election after calling Georgia lawmakers to try and understand what was going on following Trump’s disputation of the state’s vote counting. Trump was indicted in Georgia last month on charges of attempting to overturn the state’s election results.

Rumors that Norman would be challenging Graham for his Senate seat have been floating around for months. Norman told reporters in July that he wasn’t “ruling it out.”
