Putin Reportedly Flees to Secret Hideaway as Protests Break Out in Russia

(USNewsMag.com) – For more than seven months, Russia has been actively attacking its neighbor. Recently, Ukraine launched an offensive that forced the invading military to retreat in some areas. Russian President Vladimir Putin is now thought to be in hiding.

According to reports, Putin fled Moscow amid protests and traveled to his complex near Lake Valdai. The authoritarian leader allegedly left for his “secret” palace in the area on Wednesday, September 21. The home sits between Saint Petersburg and Moscow. It reportedly has a three-story spa building that boasts a mud bath, personal beauty parlor, and float pool.

The complex, which is partially owned by billionaire Yuri Kovalchuk, is described as an ideal place for Putin to rest his “body and soul.”

Putin left to go to the house after announcing the partial mobilization of his military. He’s calling up to 300,000 reservists to fight in the Ukraine invasion after suffering massive losses. Russian citizens took to the streets to protest the decision. Hundreds of people across multiple cities have been arrested, including some in Moscow. In one city, children as young as 14 were detained by police officers. Military-aged men are fleeing the country to avoid being drafted into the conflict.
