(USNewsMag.com) – President Joe Biden has spent almost 40 percent of his presidency away from the White House on vacation.
RNC Research shows that Biden has spent 39.2 percent, or 353 days, of his presidency on vacation, with his favorite place of travel being his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The new data comes after a report that In the first 18 months of his presidency, Biden spent $150 at his Delaware home. In 2021, as Kabul, Afghanistan, fell to the Taliban, Biden was also away from the White House, at Camp David.
His most recent vacation, on July 8, came after cocaine was found in the White House. The Biden family is also under investigation by the House Oversight Committee for their alleged involvement in an influence-peddling scheme with foreign nationals. On July 7, Biden also announced his plans to send controversial cluster munitions to Ukraine before he headed off on another vacation. Biden is expected to leave Delaware and head to London, where he will meet with King Charles and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Biden will then head to the U.S. Nordic Leaders Summit.
In order to ensure his privacy while on vacation, Biden has spent almost half a million dollars in taxpayer money building a security fence surrounding his multi-million-dollar Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, vacation home. Construction of the fence began after the Department of Homeland Security awarded the contract to a construction company in Delaware in September 2021. Though the original price estimates came in at $456,000, the project ended up costing about $500,000.
In comparison, former President Donald Trump spent 132 days away from the White House at either Mar-a-Lago or Bedminster, New Jersey. Former President Barack Obama spent 38 days away from the White House at rental properties in either Hawaii or Martha’s Vineyard. Former President George W. Bush spent 100 days away from the White House during his entire tenure at his Texas ranch.
