Leaked: Internal Twitter Messages Prove Everything You Suspected About Shadow Banning

Leaked Twitter Documents Confirm What People Have Said About “Big Tech” All Along

(USNewsMag.com) – Social media users have complained for years about shadowbanning on platforms. It happens when users are able to post, but an algorithm prevents their audience from seeing their posts. It’s a way to ban someone without essentially banning them. Project Veritas claims a source inside of Twitter confirmed the practice is real.

According to screenshots of an alleged Twitter Slack chat, the company does shadowban people. The screenshot showed an employee asking if it was a real practice. Someone else said they have no idea what definition of “shadow ban” was being used but it’s true that the company can reduce a person’s visibility on the platform.

In early April, conservative Caitlyn Jenner accused Twitter of shadow banning her account after she announced she’d signed a contract with Fox News in March. She said her engagements went way down and it shocked her.

Twitter isn’t the only platform that shadowbans people. In 2021, Facebook rolled out a feature that moves users’ posts “lower in the News Feed” if they “repeatedly share false information.” The punishment extends to people who have been dinged by the platform for bullying or other violations.

Have you ever experienced a shadowban on a social media platform?
