Hot Mic Catches Xi Jinping Criticizing Justin Trudeau
(USNewsMag.com) – During the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia, global leaders met with one another to discuss the most pressing matters facing the world. On November 16, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chinese President Xi Jinping had a conversation on the sidelines. Reporters covering the event managed to capture the conversation on a hot mic.
During the conversation between the leaders, the Chinese president was seen smiling. However, the discussion was anything but friendly. Xi spoke in mandarin with a translator interpreting his words. The Asian leader told Trudeau he has noticed every time they have talks, there are leaks in the media. “That’s not appropriate,” Xi said.
Someone spotted that as President Xi walks away, just off camera he says ''very naive'' (hen tian zhen) after already giving Trudeau a public dressing down for ''leaking a conversation'' Listen at around 45 seconds and you'll hear Xi Jinping give his parting insult. pic.twitter.com/Chw5K7HsZF

Xi was more forceful, telling the Canadian president they could have a conversation if there was “sincerity” on Trudeau’s part; if not, “there might be unpredictable consequences.”
Trudeau pushed back, saying Canadians “believe in a free and open and frank dialogue,” but told Xi they will not agree about everything.
China is one of Canada’s largest trading partners. In recent years, they have maintained their relations, but they’ve been strained. According to The Guardian, the conversation that was leaked had to do with Trudeau’s concern over China’s “interference activities.” In January, the country accused the Chinese of interfering in its 2019 election.
What do you think about the conversation between the two world leaders?
