(USNewsMag.com) – Republican lawmakers on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee are speaking out about their investigation into the influence peddling scheme involving the Biden family and its business associates.
South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace made the prediction that “based on the evidence” the committee has seen so far that she thinks the amount the businesses made “is going to be north of $50 million.” Mace added that the committee must show Americans “every single piece of evidence.”
Over the course of the House Oversight Committee’s investigation, bank records from Biden family businesses show more than $20 million was received from foreign nationals in China, Ukraine, Romania, Kazakhstan as well as Russia. Bank records show that nine members of the Biden family, including two grandchildren of President Joe Biden, received payments from the Biden family’s foreign business ventures.
House Oversight Committee Chairman and Kentucky Rep. James Comer agreed with the Mace’s prediction of $50 million, telling Fox News’s Sean Hannity that he thinks “it’s realistic.”
Comer stated that “We haven’t gotten to Jim Biden,” referencing that the personal bank records of Biden’s brother had not been uncovered by the committee. Due to his relationship with the then-vice president, Jim Biden was able to negotiate a secret $140 million settlement deal between the Saudi Arabian government and a U.S. company, according to court documents.
According to a committee spokesperson, Comer could issue a subpoena before Oct. 1 for Hunter Biden as well as James Biden for both personal bank records and business bank records. In February, Hunter Biden denied a request by the committee for bank documents.
Comer told Hannity that because the money “was disbursed through” many different members of the Biden family that it “was a very organized crime ring.” Comer also added that “Joe Biden was very involved in this.”
On Sept. 28, House Republicans will hold their first impeachment inquiry hearing into President Joe Biden’s alleged abuse of power and alleged corruption.
