FOUND ALIVE: Missing Alabama Woman Shows Up at Home

(USNewsMag.com) – The 25-year-old Alabama woman who vanished from Interstate 459 in Hoover, Alabama, has been found after going missing for two days.

A call was made to the Hoover Police Department at 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, informing them that Carlee Russell had returned home. She reportedly walked up to the house and banged on the front door. Russell was taken to the hospital and released after an evaluation.

Last Thursday, Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell was only ten miles from her residence on her way home from work at a spa when she spotted a child alone near mile marker 11 on I-459. At 9:34 p.m., Russell called 911 to report the toddler.

Previously that day, the nursing student, who is registered at Jefferson State Community College, visited the police department to handle some business in the nearby town of Harpersville. The department later commented on how impressed they were with her.

She got out of the car to check on the child, then called a relative, but lost contact with them despite the line being open. A scuffle and a scream were heard. Her family grew alarmed and later commented that perhaps Carlee was abducted and the child was used as bait.

Officers found her red Mercedes with the door open but no sign of Russell or the child. Her phone, Apple Watch, hat, and earPods were all still in the vehicle. During the search, there were two rewards of $20,000 and $5,000 for information.

According to the police, a witness saw a man standing beside Russell’s car before the officers got there. Reports indicate that a light-complexioned male was spotted outside Carlee’s vehicle, possibly accompanied by a gray vehicle. A forensic examination will be done on her phone.

According to Thomar Simmons, Russell’s boyfriend, she was abducted and has been battling for her life for two days. No details regarding her whereabouts have been reported. The family is asking for some privacy during this period.
