Former Policeman Indicted for Assaulting Women While on the Job

Women ASSAULTED – It All Points To One Official…

(USNewsMag.com) – Police officers are supposed to keep their communities safe from crime, and it’s imperative they be trustworthy. In every career field, however, it seems there are bad actors, and law enforcement is no exception. A trusted member of the Sanger, California, police department was recently indicted on 10 counts for allegedly sexually assaulting women while on duty.

On August 5, the Justice Department announced that J. DeShawn Torrence (38) is facing federal charges of actual or attempted aggravated sexual abuse. These incidents reportedly took place between 2017 and 2021. They involve four separate women, who all say Torrence abused his position to coerce them into unwanted acts ranging from removing clothes to engaging in intercourse.

While some of the charges carry a life sentence, it’s up to the court’s discretion should Torrence be convicted of the crimes he’s facing. He’s currently in federal custody and has pleaded not guilty. Torrence is set to appear in court again on Wednesday, August 10, with his lawyer Mohamad Baydoun.

The case against the former police officer is still currently under investigation. The FBI Sacramento Field Office is working in a joint effort with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and asks anyone with any information to contact the FBI at 916-746-7000.
