(USNewsMag.com) – The America First Legal organization has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging that there was a coordinated communication effort made by former intelligence officials in order to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story as “Russian disinformation”. The complaint, made in late October, claims that, in contravention of federal law, there was an unreported in-kind contribution made to President Joe Biden’s campaign and its related entities.
The complaint centers around the alleged activities of now Secretary of State Antony Blinken and 51 former intelligence officials who released a letter known as the “letter of 51” only weeks before the 2020 presidential election, which saw Joe Biden beat Donald Trump. America First Legal (AFL) argues that the individuals involved deliberately worked with Biden’s campaign on creating and circulating the letter in a bid to boost Biden’s election chances by smearing the laptop story as disinformation.
The AFL complaint takes aim at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as well as several arms of the Biden campaign, including the Biden Victory Fund and Biden for President teams, accusing them of failing to declare the Biden campaign’s involvement in the creation of the crucial letter.
The complaint also makes reference to testimony made by Michael Morrell, a former CIA official and signatory to the ‘Letter of 51’. Speaking to the House Judiciary Committee, Morrell described signing the letter because he wanted to help Biden defeat Trump. He explained that he had been in contact with Antony Blinken, who was at the time employed as a campaign advisor to Joe Biden. Blinken is said to have orchestrated the letter in response to the New York Post exposé on the laptop after a computer repair shop worker went to the press about the laptop’s contents.
Hunter Biden is in the process of suing the computer repairman, John Mac Isaac, along with former Trump attorney Rudi Giuliani and his aide to Trump, Garrett Ziegler, for their roles in making the contents of his laptop public. Since the story was first leaked in 2020, multiple news outlets have confirmed its veracity.
