(USNewsMag.com) – In September, President Joe Biden ordered all Head Start employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine by January 31. He also said all kids ages 2 and up would need to wear masks indoors and, in some cases, outdoors as well. A federal judge has now halted the mandate from taking effect.
On January 1, US District Judge Terry Doughty ruled the president unlawfully bypassed Congress when he issued the mandate. The judge believes only the legislative branch has the power to put a directive like that in place, saying if the president can just “usurp [that] power” then the US is “no longer a democracy – it is a monarchy.” Doughty also quoted the late President Ronald Reagan, stating the most terrifying words in English are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
VICTORY! A federal judge just blocked President Biden’s overreaching COVID-19 mandates that unlawfully require masks on toddlers and COVID-19 vaccines for staff and volunteers in Head Start Programs.

The ruling by Doughty impacts 24 states:
Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Georgia, Kansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Carolina, Wyoming, Tennessee, West Virginia and Utah.
In addition to those states, US District Judge James “Wesley” Hendrix issued a similar injunction in Texas stopping the Head Start mandate there as well.
Lone Star State Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) called the verdict a “win for the children of Texas.”
