(USNewsMag.com) – Many GOP lawmakers are raising questions on whether or not President Joe Biden told the truth about having “never discussed” business dealings with his son, Hunter Biden, and several have expressed having no doubt that the president has been lying for years about it.
On at least 20 different occasions now, Biden claims he never spoke with Hunter Biden about his son’s business dealings. Evidence has continued to mount from 2019 to 2023, and Biden’s narrative has also shifted a few times.
While on the campaign trail in August 2019, the then-presidential candidate told reporters that he never had any discussions with his son regarding business dealings. “Period,” Biden added. The following month, while in Iowa, Biden reiterated to Fox News that he “never discussed” any overseas deals with Hunter Biden and made the claim three more times in October 2019. He “never discussed a single thing” with his son “having to do with Ukraine.”
After being elected to the White House, they stuck to this narrative, which was parroted by Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary at the time. In July 2023, a former associate of Hunter Biden, Devon Archer, testified before the House that the president “lied” when he claimed he never spoke about business with his son. Archer revealed that at least 20 times, the first son put Biden on speakerphone during a meeting with business partners. Archer said Hunter Biden did this to sell “the brand” of the Biden name by using his father’s influence. As vice president, Biden also met with several of his son’s foreign business partners.
Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York said “there can no longer be any dispute” that the president “and his staff” have “lied to the American people” repeatedly about Biden’s involvement with the first son’s foreign business affairs. She said the evidence shows that not only was he involved, but he was also a “willing participant.” Stefanik vowed that “House Republicans will leave no stone unturned” when investigating Biden.
Biden currently faces an impeachment inquiry leading into the 2024 presidential election, in which he’s running for re-election.
