Biden Issues New Executive Orders Related to Climate Crisis

Biden Issues New Flurry of Executive Actions

(USNewsMag.com) – In recent weeks, President Joe Biden has signed executive orders on varying subjects, including abortion, equality rights, and wrongfully-detained US Nationals. Now, it seems he’s using his powers to address another issue meeting resistance in Congress: climate change. After Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) said he would not actively support a package involving energy and climate provisions, Biden seemingly took matters into his own hands.

On Wednesday, July 20, Biden announced he would be signing executive actions to deal with the climate crisis, though he stopped short of declaring an actual national emergency, despite urging from Democrats. The White House said the actions would entail providing communities suffering from extreme heat waves with additional funding through the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program through FEMA to help with hazard mitigation. It will also provide guidance to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This program aims at helping low-income households with their energy costs, which can skyrocket during the summer and winter months with extreme temperature changes.

In addition to the above, Biden said he’ll also take more action in the wind power sector and talked about the importance of powering homes with “clean energy.”

So, what do you think of Biden’s actions?
