(USNewsMag.com) – On October 31, President Joe Biden attended the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. A number of aides attended the conference with him, but not everyone returned to the US.
According to reports, one of the aides who traveled with the president tested positive for COVID-19. The White House didn’t reveal the identity of the person, but confirmed to reporters that the aide remained in Scotland under quarantine. Biden didn’t have close contact with the sick staffer but several other members of the administration did and they tested positive after they were back home in the US.
In October, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas also tested positive. Then on Halloween, days before the staffer tested positive, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced she was infected.

Psaki said she would quarantine for 10 days and wouldn’t be back to work until she had a negative test result. The press secretary was fully vaccinated, but suffered from a breakthrough case of the virus. Reports did not reveal the vaccination statuses of the other staffers who tested positive.
President Biden has tested negative repeatedly in the days since he returned to the US.
