(USNewsMag.com) – President Joe Biden was pressed for answers regarding documents showing he was involved in a bribery scheme while vice president. The June 8 press conference was held following his meeting with the U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
A reporter asked Biden for a comment about what South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace called “damning evidence” that Biden, while vice president, had been involved in an alleged bribery scheme. The evidence was revealed earlier June 8 after the House Oversight Committee met to bring charges of contempt of Congress against FBI Director Christopher Wray for failing to turn over FD-1023 form related to the investigation into the alleged bribery scheme and Biden. The form was originally subpoenaed at the beginning of May.
Just before the vote, Wray allowed the committee to view the document. According to Mace, the evidence revealed in the document is “worse than has been reported so far.”
According to those who viewed the document, the detailed document refers to multiple meetings as well as phone calls with Mykola Zlochevsky, the former owner of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company. The document details a bribery scheme involving Zlochevsky, who said he had to pay $5 million to both Hunter Biden and Joe Biden to make sure there were “no problems” for Burisma.
Biden responded to the reporter’s question by laughing, saying “Where’s the money?” He went on to claim he was joking and that “It’s a bunch of malarkey.”
In response to Biden’s answer, many took to Twitter to comment on his cavalier attitude toward the allegations.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted it was “easy to be this flippant towards serious corruption allegations” with the media and Department of Justice protecting him.
Florida Rep. Byron Donalds tweeted a response that the money is in the Biden family LLCs that were created to “hide the money.” He added that Biden would not be able to hide from Republicans in the House.
