AOC Slammed For Anti-Israel Message On Christmas

( – After posting an anti-Israeli message on Christmas Day, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is now facing backlash for trying to compare the Palestinian people to Jesus Christ while making no mention of the radical Islamic group Hamas or the hostages they took in October.

Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Instagram that “in the story of Christmas,” Jesus “was born in modern-day Palestine” at a time when the government was engaging “in a massacre of the innocents,” a reference to the biblical story of the Jews who occupied the region during the Roman Empire 2,000 years ago. She said that Jesus “as part of a targeted population” killed “indiscriminately” in order to protect the power of an “unjust” leader.

The New York congresswoman went on to compare the story of what Jewish people endured in the past to the current situation in Israel as the Jewish nation continues its military campaign to weed out Hamas from the Palestinian territories. The counteroffensive was sparked by the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, which killed around 1,200. Since then, over 20,000 more people have died in Gaza from Israel’s military actions.

Ocasio-Cortez says now, “thousands of years later,” Bethlehem is occupied by “right-wing forces,” and a similar story is unfolding “for today’s Palestinians.” She also noted that the Christian community in Bethlehem, located in Palestinian territory in the West Bank, canceled Christmas Eve celebrations this year due to safety concerns and out of respect for the dead.

She concluded her remarks by stating that “the entire story of Christmas” and Jesus “is about standing with” people who are impoverished, powerless, marginalized, and maligned – with refugees, immigrants, outcasts, and the “misunderstood.”

Many were unhappy with the congresswoman’s comparison and also noted that she conveniently left out any mention of Hamas or the victims killed during the Oct. 7 attack on Israel. One pro-Israel activist criticized Ocasio-Cortez for making Christmas about “social justice” and politics instead of enjoying her holiday.

Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the Progressive Caucus, is one of a small group in that caucus known as “The Squad,” who have all been vocal in their criticisms of Israel and calling for a cease-fire in the region.
