Homeland Security Rescues Over 70 Children From Trafficking & Abuse
(USNewsMag.com) – Police have been cracking down on human trafficking for years. Although all victims are important, when children are kidnapped, it’s especially concerning. Fortunately, 70 kids are now safe as a result of a very successful law enforcement operation.
Over a three-week period from Mid-April to early May, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the US Marshals, and numerous other law enforcement agencies conducted “Operation Lost Souls.” The children were located in Colorado, Mexico, and West Texas. The kids who ranged in age from 10 to 17, were victims of sex trafficking as well as physical abuse.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was also involved in the sting. Major Matthew Mull said the department was “grateful” for the law enforcement agencies that worked with DPS to protect Texas communities and children. HSI El Paso Deputy Special Agent in Charge Taekuk Cho said Homeland Security will work with strong determination to protect the “community’s most precious resource.” He went on to say the agency will exert its best effort to find missing children and help them heal while also finding the criminals who victimized them and bringing them to justice. Law enforcement is providing counseling to the recovered children and their families.
